ADVICE FROM LUQMAN AL-HAKIM TO HIS SON

Advice is the important thing in our life. What is the purpose of our life if you only believe at yourself and don't care about other's opinion, especially your parent's advice given to you, they give those pieces of advice for free. It's the opposite of the western or other modern countries, you rarely get a piece of advice from someone, and you can get it if you pay them, for example an expert, because the people will only trust the experts and pay for them. It's better if you think and listen about a piece of advice given by someone before judging it. It is just like "Don't judge the book by its cover", isn't it?

Let's jump to the main point, here are advice given by the only human that is not prophet and messenger, but his life stories exist in Al-Quran, he's Lukman Al-Hakim. Based on the article that I've read, it's because of his life experiences full of meaningful and wisdom. Here are several pieces of advice given to his son about life:

"My son, if foods have filled your stomach, then your mind and wisdom will die. All of your bodies are paralyzed to pray, and you lose your sincerity and probity. Even though only with probity human can enjoy dzikir."

"My son, if since young you are study diligently and seeking knowledge. In adulthood you will harvest the fruit and enjoy it."

"My son, you should come with the people who go carrying jenazah, don't come to the people who go to a wedding party. Because jenazah will remind you of the afterlife while wedding party will rise your life desire. "

"My son, I have carried a big stone, I have carried heavy irons. But I never feel more pain than poverty and abjection."

"My son, I have experienced suffering and several kinds of difficulties. But I have never experienced greater suffering than having a debt."

"My son, in my whole life I take the eight principles from the prophet. The principles are: 1. if you're praying to Allah, watch your mind, 2. If you're in somebody's house, watch your sight, 3. If you're in the middle of majelis, watch your language, 4. if you attend a dinner, watch your attitude, 5. always remember Allah, 6. Remember  the death will come to you, 7. Forget your kindness to other, 8. forget the other's mistake at you."

Alright, those are several pieces of advice given by Lukman Al-Hakim to his son about life in this world. It's very insteresting, motivating and useful for us and it will be best if you can apply those pieces of advice in your temporary life. I hope this article is useful for you, anyway, thanks for reading this article.
